Event Staff

Duties include assisting patrons in the reserved and lawn seating areas, assisting patrons with disabilities, gently enforcing house rules and serving as the "eyes and ears" of the venue. Other duties, as assigned, include guarding all entrances into the Pavilion, including the front of the stage, directing auto traffic in the turnaround at the end of the performance and assisting with "artist" security when requested. Event Staff volunteers must be cognizant of patron emergencies, disturbances, crowd control issues and compliance enforcement of O.L.C.C. guidelines. When necessary, Event Staff volunteers are to summon security or Britt Staff for assistance. (16-30 volunteers to arrive at 5:00)

Ticket Takers/Trolley Host/Cushion Rental/Raffle Ticket Sales

Ticket Takers will be assigned to a specific gate for the entire performance (1 of the 3 gates) taking tickets, greeting patrons, handing out programs, monitoring gates during performances, giving each other breaks, and monitoring patrons as they leave the venue at the end of the night. (11-13 volunteers to arrive at 5:00)

Trolley - Meet the trolley driver at the public parking lot (off Oregon Street) to ride along as co-pilot. You must be willing and able to lend a helping hand to patrons as they are stepping on or off the trolley and also to assist (if warranted) with loading or unloading miscellaneous picnic items. (2 volunteer to arrive two hours prior to the opening act show time)

Cushion Renters will work under the direction of the concession manger. We intend to develop a core group of volunteers who enjoy walking throughout the audience chatting with patrons while renting cushions. The concession manager will provide training. (3 volunteers to arrive at 5:15)

Raffle Ticket Sellers will work under the direction of the concession manger. You will walk throughout the audience chatting with patrons while selling raffle tickets. The concession manager will provide training. After intermission you balance your cash with the concession manager.(4 volunteers to arrive at 5:00)

Hill Ushers

Hill ushers greet and assist patrons to their seats and answer patron questions. Be aware of patrons with disabilities and offer a helping hand when warranted. Gently enforce house rules that fall within an usher's jurisdiction, such as monitoring chair heights and gently reminding patrons to speak softly when warranted. Ushers should always be aware of potential problems and refer to event staff and/or Britt House Staff. (10 volunteers arrive at 5:00)

Parking and Traffic Control

(Preshow only position) Give assistance and monitor those individuals parking in the lower and upper parking lots. Also, some volunteers will be needed to monitor traffic on First and Fir Street. (5 volunteers to arrive at 4:15 to 5:00)

Circular Drive Drop Off (Preshow only position) In the patron/automobile drop-off area volunteers are expected to keep traffic flowing at a safe and reasonable rate as patrons unload from their vehicles in this area. Volunteers must be ready and able to assist those patrons with accessibility needs. (3 volunteers to arrive at 4:30PM)

Volunteer Booth

(Preshow only position) Duties include checking in the rest of the volunteers, organizing and handing out aprons, stuffing programs, etc. This is an early arrival job, requiring volunteers to be on hand by 3:00PM for all performances. Should there be an extreme shortage of volunteers for a performance, you may be asked to help in other capacities when your regular shift ends at 6:30PM. Job assignments are made by the volunteer team leader for that performance. (3 volunteers)

Gift Booth

Gift booth volunteers are responsible for selling a wide variety of gift items from the Britt Society Gift Booth. Some volunteers will be expected to venture into the audience (pre-show and during intermission) to sell some broad appeal gift items. At the end of shift, volunteers are expected to help count out and organize the gift booth for the next performance. Job assignments are made by the volunteer team leader for that performance. (5-7 volunteers to arrive at 5:15)

Ice Cream Novelties Sales

Ice Cream Sales volunteers will work under the direction of the concession manager. You will sell ice cream novelties from a stationary refrigerated cart, and depending on staffing, one volunteer will walk throughout the audience during preshow and intermission, selling from a shoulder strap carrier. You will balance out your cash with the concession manager at the end of intermission. (4 volunteers to arrive at 5:00)

Chair Rentals

You will rent plastic chairs to patrons from a position adjacent to the gift booth. You will work under the direction of the concession manager, and will balance out at the end of intermission. (3 volunteers to arrive at 5:15)

Consignments - Artist Merchandise

Volunteers will work closely with the concession manager. Consignment volunteers are responsible for selling artist's merchandise, before during and after the performance. You will be involved with setting up before the gates open as well as helping to count and pack the merchandise at the end. This can be a long shift, but enjoyable, too. Job assignments are made by the volunteer team leader for that performance. (2 volunteers to arrive from 4:45 to 5:00.)

Clean Up

Cleanup crews are responsible for emptying trash containers and picking up litter before and after the show, and also during intermissions. The majority of the work takes place after the concert, averaging an extra 30-45 minutes. Clean up crews are also expected to pick up the rental chairs and cushions, sorting the recyclables, and helping to pick-up and store the reserved seating tarps. Job assignments are made by the volunteer team leader for that evening's performance. (18 volunteers to arrive at 6:00)
